In his Opening remarks, UMU Vice Chancellor Rev. Prof. John Chrysostom Maviiri appreciated RUFORUM and ACALISE for organizing such a training especially at a time when Postgraduate students need it the most to close the knowledge gaps. He appealed to participants to concentrate on research and become producers of knowledge and not just consumers of knowledge.

“As a Centre of Excellence, let us show that our products can address issues affecting the African Continent by using the research tools provided to help us sail through.” He said.

He was grateful to the Faculty of Agriculture for the collaborations and sharing of knowledge as a means of helping everyone Excel. “You are building us with resources to help boost knowledge and use it properly for our success,” he added.
