UMU celebrates 24 years of excellence
The Archbishop of Kampala Archdiocese His Grace Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga has urged all staff and students of Uganda Martyrs University to always be good witnesses of our dear University in whatever they do and say because in that way, they will be conforming to the teachings of Christ.
The Archbishop was giving a homily at Uganda Martyrs University during celebrations to mark 24 years at the main campus Nkozi, where he was invited as Guest of Honour and a Patron of the University. The event was marked under the theme, “Celebrating 25 years of Excellence in the Footsteps of the Uganda Martyrs”.
His Grace Dr. Cyprian Kizito Lwanga reminded all Christians in attendance that they are all products of God and have a duty to pay allegiance to him as our Creator.
He also reminded us of the value of education which is supposed to bring Peace, Joy and Empowerment to lead and guide society in the right path. “As we commemorate 24 years since the University’s establishment, your studies must empower you to lead yourselves and others”, he said.
The Archbishop applauded the Uganda Episcopal Conference for making Archbishop Kiwanuka’s dream become a reality when they opened Uganda Martyrs University on 18th October 1993.
UMU was also applauded for the concerted effort made to ensure that it continues to provide quality education as exemplified by the modern infrastructure at all campuses.
It was a colourful day with entertainment from all campuses.
