Uganda Martyrs University is a faith-based private, not-for-profit University owned by the Episcopal Conference of the Catholic Bishops of Uganda. The University is looking for suitably qualified persons to fill the following positions:

Vice-Chancellor’s Office

Position:                     Advancement Officer

Duty Station:              Main Campus – Nkozi

Reports to:                 Vice-Chancellor

General Functions:

The University Advancement Officer advises the Vice Chancellor and Management on all matters pertaining to the management and operation of University development, community and donor relations. S/he manages and coordinates University developmental proposals, fundraising activities within and outside the country, solicits endowments and special gifts and engages other stakeholders in the advocacy and development endeavors of the University.

Academic Qualifications and Experience:

The University Advancement Officer should hold a Ph.D. degree and must have been engaged in higher education teaching, administrative duties and in foreign fundraising endeavors for at least five years.

Accountability Profile

  • Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards major donors and prospects including individuals, corporations, and foundations, through visits and other forms of direct personal contact in accordance with University development strategies and objectives.
  • Establishes and maintains effective working relationships with the University faculties and departments in drawing and implementing the University development agenda within the general development strategic objectives.
  • Makes effective use of the University’s prospect management database and other institutional resources to ensure appropriate management of donors, prospects, alumni, and volunteers in furthering developments and visibility of Uganda Martyrs University.
  • Conducts research to identify prospects and creates strategies to match prospects’ interests to the priorities of the unit and the University.
  • Oversees and guides the preparation of persuasive, accurate, and grammatically and syntactically correct solicitations, proposals, case statements, reports, correspondence, and other development-related communication materials in support of University’s fund-raising activities.
  • Assists in short- and long-range strategic planning activities to create and implement fund-raising goals and objectives.
  • Plans and conducts programs and activities designed to increase the visibility of UMU to internal and external constituencies.
  • Develops and manages budgets for fundraising activities.

School of Postgraduate Studies and Research

Position:                    Research Fellow (2)

Organization:           Uganda Martyrs University

Duty Station:             Main Campus – Nkozi

Reports to:                 Associate Dean, SPGSR

Academic Qualifications and Experience:

The candidate should be in possession of a Master’s Degree in Social Sciences or Humanities with at least an upper second grade and satisfactory record in conducting research.  S/he should have a satisfactory record in research and publication and good contributions to community service.  S/he should have a minimum of three years of experience in conducting research.

Institute of Languages and Communication Studies

Position:                     Lecturer (1)

Organization:            Uganda Martyrs University

Duty Station:              Main Campus – Nkozi

Reports to:                  Director, Institute of Languages and Communication Studies

 

Academic Qualifications and Experience

Applicants for the position of Lecturer must have a Masters of Arts in Communication/Journalism with a specialization in Radio and Television. A Ph.D. is an added advantage.  S/he should have at least three years of experience practicing Journalism in the field.

Academic Qualifications and Experience

Applicants for the position of Lecturer must have a Masters of Arts in Communication/Journalism with a specialization in Print Media. A Ph.D. is an added advantage.  S/he should have at least three years of experience practicing Journalism in the field.
