Uganda Martyrs University is a faith-based private, not-for-profit University owned by the Uganda Episcopal Conference of the Catholic Bishops of Uganda. The University is looking for suitably qualified persons to fill the following positions:

FACULTY OF THE BUILT ENVIRONMENT

Position:          Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in the Faculty of the Built Environment (Multiple Positions)

Reports to:      Dean, Faculty of the Built Environment

Duty Station:   Main Campus, Nkozi

Academic Qualifications and Experience

Applicants for the position of Lecturer must have a minimum of a professional degree in Architecture, Landscape Architecture or Engineering, or another Design based discipline (as appropriate). A research degree is an added advantage.S/he should have a minimum of three (3) years of service at Assistant Lecturer level.

Applicants for the position of Senior Lecturer should have a minimum of a higher degree by research and/or substantial teaching and research experience, as well as publications. S/he should have a minimum of three (3) years of service at Lecturer level.

Applicants for the position of Associate Professor should have a minimum of a Ph.D., a substantial teaching and research experience as well as a substantial record of research and publications. S/he should have a minimum of three (3) years of service at Senior Lecturer level.

 Positions Available:

  • Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Architecture (Environmental Design) (1 Position Full-time). The candidate is expected to teach, and carry out research in Environmental Design, Sustainable Architecture or Building Services.
  • Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor in Architecture (Architectural Design) (2 Positions Full-time). The candidate is expected to teach and carry out research in Tectonics, Design, History of Architecture, Design Theory and Design Integration as well as initiate, support and enhance knowledge and skills in design
  • Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Architecture (Architectural Construction) (1 Position Full-time). The candidate is expected to teach and carry out research in Architectural Design and Architectural Construction.
  • Lecturer/Senior Lecturer in Landscape Architecture (2 Positions Full-time). The candidate is expected to teach and carry out research in Landscape Design, Landscape Architecture Theory, or Urban Design and have the ability to initiate support and enhance knowledge and skills in design.

 FACULTY OF SCIENCE

 Position:                      Lecturer in Mathematics (1 Position)

Duty Station:                Main Campus – Nkozi

Reports to:                   Dean, Faculty of Science

 Academic Qualifications and Experience:

The candidate should possess a good relevant Masters’ Degree in Mathematics, having attained at least an Upper Class at undergraduate obtained from a recognized University or its equivalent with a minimum of three (3) years of service at Assistant Lecturer level. S/he should have a satisfactory record of teaching, research, publication, and service to the academic and wider community. A relevant Ph.D. is an added advantage.

Position:                      Lecturer in Computer Science/Information Technology (3 Positions)

Duty Station:              Main Campus – Nkozi

Reports to:                  Dean, Faculty of Science

 Academic Qualifications and Experience:

The candidate should be in possession of a good relevant Masters’ Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Information Technology, Data Communications or Software Engineering obtained from a recognized University or its equivalent with a minimum of three (3) years of service at Assistant Lecturer level. S/he should have a satisfactory record of teaching, research, publication, and service to the academic and wider community. A relevant Ph.D. is an added advantage.

SCHOOL OF ARTS AND SOCIAL SCIENCES

 Position:                      Lecturer in Mental Health Psychology (2 Positions)

Duty Station:               Main Campus – Nkozi

Reports to:                  Dean, School of Arts and Social Sciences

 Academic Qualifications and Experience:

The candidate should be in possession of a good relevant Masters’ Degree obtained from a recognized University or its equivalent with a minimum of three (3) years of service at Assistant Lecturer level. S/he should have a satisfactory record of teaching, research, publication, and service to the academic and wider community. A relevant Ph.D. is an added advantage.

Position:                      Lecturer in Social Work and Social Administration (1 Position)

Duty Station:               Main Campus – Nkozi

Reports to:                  Dean, School of Arts and Social Sciences

Academic Qualifications and Experience:

The candidate should possess a good relevant Masters’ Degree obtained from a recognized University or its equivalent with a minimum of three (3) years of service at Assistant Lecturer level. S/he should have a satisfactory record of teaching, research, publication, and service to the academic and wider community. A relevant Ph.D. is an added advantage. S/he should be able to teach other social science courses.

Position:                      Lecturer in Trade Policy and Law (2 Positions)

Duty Station:               Main Campus – Nkozi

Reports to:                  Dean, School of Arts and Social Sciences

Academic Qualifications and Experience:

The candidate should be in possession of a good relevant Masters’ Degree obtained from a recognized University or its equivalent with a minimum of three (3) years of service at Assistant Lecturer level. S/he should have a satisfactory record of teaching, research, publication, and service to the academic and wider community. A relevant Ph.D. is an added advantage. Position:                      Lecturer in Diplomacy and International Studies/Relations (2 Positions)

Duty Station:               Main Campus – Nkozi

Academic Qualifications and Experience:

The candidate should be in possession of a good relevant Masters’ Degree obtained from a recognized University or its equivalent with a minimum of three (3) years of service at Assistant Lecturer level. FACULTY OF BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT

DEPARTMENT OF ECONOMICS

Position:                      Lecturer, Economics (1 Position)

Duty Station:               Main Campus – Nkozi

Reports to:                  Dean, BAM

Academic Qualifications and Experience

The candidates should have a Ph.D. or Master’s Degree in any of the following fields: Quantitative Models for Policy Analysis, Energy Economics, Agricultural Economics or Econometrics. S/he should have a minimum teaching experience of 3 years at Assistant Lecturer or Lecturer level in a recognized University.  S/he should have published at least one academic paper in a recognized refereed journal and with experience in research supervision at Masters Level.

DEPARTMENT OF MICROFINANCE

Position:          Lecturer (1 Position)

Academic Qualifications and Experience

The candidates should have a Ph.D. or Master’s Degree in Business Administration or Finance: S/he should have a minimum teaching experience of 3 years at Assistant Lecturer or Lecturer level in a recognized University or in a related activity in a recognized institution. Academic Qualifications and Experience

The candidates should have a Ph.D. or Masters’ Degree in any of the following fields: Procurement and Supply Chain Management or related field, a Certificate from an accredited body preferably, CIPS will be an added advantage. The candidate should have a minimum teaching experience of 3 years at Assistant Lecturer or Lecturer level in a recognized University. S/he should have experience in research supervision at Masters Level. The candidate should have working experience in teaching/ lecturing the following courses at both Bachelors and Masters Levels:

DEPARTMENT OF ACCOUNTING AND FINANCE

Position:                      Lecturer (2 Position)

Duty Station:               Mbale and Nkozi Main Campuses

Academic Qualifications and Experience

The candidate should have a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) Degree and a Bachelor in Business Administration, Bachelor of Commerce, Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance Degree from a recognized Institution of Higher Learning.  The candidate should have working experience in teaching/ lecturing the following courses at both Bachelors and Masters Levels:

  1. Fundamental Accounting Principles
  2. Intermediate Accounting
  3. Advanced Accounting
  4. Public Sector Accounting
  5. Computerized Accounting
  6. Cost accounting

Position:                      Lecturer (3 Positions)

Duty Station:              Main /Rubaga/Masaka Campuses

Academic Qualifications and Experience

The candidate should have a minimum a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (MBA) and a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), Bachelor of Commerce (B. Com), Bachelor of Science in Accounting and Finance (BSC A&F) Degree from a recognized University. The candidate should have working experience in teaching/ lecturing the following courses at both Bachelors and Masters Levels:

ADMINISTRATIVE POSITIONS

Position:          Finance Officer (1 Position)

Duty Station:  UMU Main Campus

Reports to:      Chief Finance Officer

Academic Qualifications and Experience

The candidate should possess a relevant Bachelor’s Degree (or its equivalent). A Master’s Degree is an added advantage. S/he should have enrolled for ACCA/CPA and completed all subjects in level 2.  S/he should have at least two years experience within the accounting field. S/he should be conversant with accounting software like Quick book, Tally, etc.  S/he should have a satisfactory record of service to the Community.  S/he should have soft skills and a high Degree of integrity.

Accountability Profile

  1. Oversees all revenue received from students on Zeeversity
  2. Manage monthly revenue from other sources such as electricity, water, rent, money generating projects, etc.
  3. Compiling information for preparing Management Accounts
  4. Participate in Annual Stocktaking
  5. Carry out any other function that may be required by relevant authorities.

Position:          Cashier (1 Position)

Duty Station:   Main Campus

Reports to:      Finance Officer

Academic Qualifications and Experience

The candidate should possess a relevant Diploma in a relevant field.  S/he should at least possess working experience of two years as Cashier in a recognized institution.  S/he should be conversant with accounting software like Quick Book, Tally.  S/he should have a satisfactory record of service to the community.  The candidate should have a high degree of integrity.

Accountability Profile

  1. Preparing cash and cheque payment vouchers
  2. Make cash and cheque payments
  3. Making daily returns of income and expenditure to Chief Finance Officer
  4. Entering data in the system
  5. File vouchers and all other relevant documents.
  6. Participate in the annual stocktaking.
  7. Carry out any other duty assigned to them by the relevant authority.

Position:          Accounts Assistant (1 Position)

Duty Station:   Masaka

Reports to:      Finance Officer

Academic Qualifications and Experience

The candidate should possess a relevant Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field.  S/he should have enrolled for ACCA/CPA and completed all subjects in level 2.  S/he should at least possess working experience of two years within the accounting field. S/he should be conversant with accounting software like Quick Book, Tally.  S/he should have a satisfactory record of service to the community.

  1. Assist Finance Officers in compiling documents and post physical inspection
  2. Performs monthly bank reconciliations
  3. Code and post account entries.
  4. Post students’ ledger fees.
  5. Prepare weekly financial reports.
  6. File vouchers and all other relevant documents.
  7. Prepare weekly financial reports
  8. Participate in the annual stocktaking.
  9. Carry out any other duty assigned to them by the relevant authority.
